Alright, I'd just like to introduce myself first. I am Andokool12, the creator of the infamous Cheeto Community ([CC]). I say infamous as I am aware many have grown a hate for how strict we are. To you I say, sorry it isn't anything personal, but RP has strict rules, and you MUST follow them or face the consequences.
Now, on with the suggestion. Recently we have experienced some issues with users who think it's funny to pretend to be myg0t and impersonate some of our admins, CTs and even me. It doesn't really anger me too much as we've gotten used to it, infact I sometimes get a kick out of it as I mess with them. Now, recently it's become a problem as there is one of them who is relentlessly finding new ways to connect, always under my name. If we have usgnonly off, he's constantly connecting with dynamic IPs. If usgnonly is on, he's constantly making alt usgn accounts.
Now I know what you're thinking, why don't we just have usgnonly on 24/7, that will make it a bigger pain for people like this is grief, right? Yes it would, but we as a community have debated on our forums about this many times and ultimately decided that our server will stay by default with usngonly off, and the reason in short has to do with server population.
Now, not to worry, we have discovered the ISP of this particular impersonator and he may receive a strict warning from them shortly, but what I'd really like to talk about here is a much stricter USGN/US account system. I believe that it should be a requirement for CS2D players (and Carnage Contest players) to be logged into USGN/US to play, and there should be a much more secure system to ensure people can only make a single account.
Now, I understand that what users suggest and what is possible are two very different things, but I'd like to name off a few ideas which could all be combined to ensure no alt accounts (even if these mediums exist already);
-IP checking: Has a USGN account already been registered on this IP?
-Email checking: Has a USGN account already been registered with this email?
-A Cookie: Mostly to deter the less tech-savvy fools, this simply saves a cookie at the end of registration, you get the rest.
-Unique file: At the end of USGN registration, the user is given a "register account to game" tool which will install three or more unique files in random folders in the game's directory. When logging into USGN in the game, it will search the game's directory for the files unique to that account, and if it finds all of them it will allow the user to log in. The catch is that the tool will not install if it detects that verification files are already in the game directory.
Thanks for reading!
