Off Topic Skin Making Skin Making
9 replies Hey guys, I am going back and forth to myself for making skins. I have made some maps, and people don't really like them, so I want to get out of that business.
I'm interested in skining due to me starting to texture mods in MineCraft, and now I some-what wanna try and do it all for CS2D. Any tips or anything?
Softwares, ideas, things that I should start off to do. Maybe HE, then bigger things?
Thanks. I started out with a knife. So make a knife. @ Yates: Alright, do you use PAINT.net or GIMP and all of them. Like, what programs? you need to use what program your comfortable with. im comfortable using paint but harder because it doesnt have that much feature like airbrush and stuffs.
EDIT: well. my skin are crap and useless. and i just realized that Im better at mapping more than skinning I see, I'm think I'm gonna use PAINT.net, but mapping you just get a idea, you do it. The skining is harder due to you having to probably spend more time on it, and trying to get it to look good. Get an image of the original weapon from google.
Sketch an outline (Pixel by pixel is best, and zoom in and activate the pixel grid. I males things easier).
Colour in the general colours.
Add so many details until you say you've got enough.
Do another one.
Repeat the whole cycle (also with different weapons) until you get something really good. It might take some 10-20 tries, so don't give up after the first time.
Thats how I started, and the result is my weaponpack (see signature). Hador, thank you so much. I'm in PAINT.net looking at the original knife like. "Hmm, what the **** am I gonna make?" thanks dude. Avo User Offline
You can also use GIMP or Photoshop. They have a lot of useful functions and clear interface. Alright, I just gave a shot at making a Knife. Gonna upload it and see what people think. 1. If you spend more time skinning than mapping you're doing it wrong.
2. I wouldn't start with a knife. You should start with editing a standard weapon.
You should NEVER just change the color to some standard paint shit. Editing a weapon doesn't mean you gotta make it uglier.
The best weapon to START (not edit) with is imho any rifle. I'd try some FAMAS-like clone weapon thing.
