It kind of sounds like Epic goes the way of Indie Devs like Unreal Software.
It will be 100% free
No micro transactions
No other F2P bullshit which you usually see in other games
Devs are working together with the community
Cross platform (Win, Mac, Linux)
It will be moddable
etc.
Sounds kinda familiar, eh?
I really hope they get it right this time. Since they're working directly with the community, they will make this game like everyone wants it to be.
So many old-school shooters make a comeback now. Rise of the Triad, Shadow Warrior, Wolfenstein: TNO, Doom 4, and now Unreal Tournament... Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Quake 5 shows up as well, or Blood, and somewhere at the end of the road maybe even Half-Life 3.
Anyways, I'm excited and I hope I will get to telefrag some more noobs in the future. It will take some time until the first playable version will be released, but since it's not a one-man-project like Stranded III, I guess the development is at least a hundred times faster.
And now I wonder, what ever happened to Unreal? Y'know, the game which started it all? Unreal II wasn't even made by Epic. I'd like to see an Unreal reboot sometime in the future.
