universal rank system will lead to many cheaters, because players will try to be the 1st rank,.
we want a fair & friendly game

then, I disagree with matchmaking system too, it will make players *yawn* of waiting the system to processes the matchmaking request , and the rest is, (s)he just killed many times

That's my opinion, no offense(?)

Ain't fun at all.

Matchmaking usually isn't about fun.

Oh, my bad then.. I wonder if this will lead to what TF2 is right now? I mean, you can choose servers or let the MM take care of you. If yes, then I have no objection to it.

@user CY: What's your problem srlys?
Matchmaking is kinda funny actually, is not a tournament gamemode with such pressure but a competitive mode only for fun (invite your friends for example) and play vs people with teamwork,etc...

And for anothers who tell kids call names when they are rekted is kinda "normal" because is just haters simple. Just go to csgo and you see the same.

This honestly wont help to bring new people to the game it will just keep the existing ones for about 1 year longer until the new feature will be boring until its nothing new anymore.

One of my few problems is time. I've seen how Matchmaking System ruined Navyfield 2 experience. It caused us to wait for up from 5 to 15 minutes, killing a reasonable amount of playerbase in the process. It only worked with a large playerbase imo. It it'll end up wasting your time waiting where none of us have the luxury of time. unless any of you are completely free of work and studies.

Oh, a dumb question:

What's the reward for winning in competitive matches other than rankings for CS2D?

Yes because I study and work 24/7.

Indeed a dumb question. The rank itself.

Go back to spriting. You are literally causing a shitstorm between the competitive scene and yourself. If someone wants to make it, go ahead and fucking let them - it should not be your concern.

I commented on this topic several times already but I'll do it again, saying basically the same stuff: I'm super sure that automatic match making is not a thing which will help CS2D much/at all.

Let me put it this way: Did you EVER think something like "oh, I never really cared about game XYZ but now it has match making! I'll totally play it now!"? I bet not. That's why match making won't bring any new players.

Other reasons why it will most likely not work very well:

× There are not enough players. It would take too long (to find enough fitting players for a match) to make it helpful at all.

× Most people who still play this game seem to prefer crazy mods and not classic CS2D matches. So this means even less active players for the match making pool!

× You need trusted server providers and very well moderated servers to establish a reliable ranking system which isn't totally fucked up by cheaters. This is incredibly hard and time consuming to organize and maintain and therefore it will most likely fail or won't be up long.

But please continue to work on your system and show me that I'm totally wrong with all these assumptions. I would actually be very glad to see that

This would be a great idea and there are servers who are great moderated and I had never seen hackers their so we can try this idea if it works and bring more players then why not

It would work if CS2D had more decent players. But right now, in my opinion it's just not worth the effort.
So yeah
Glix has written
It wont work in cs2d, thats what i think.

People could make their own unofficial tournaments for the Classic CS2D enthusiastics (which are hard to come by). But it's not a good idea to implement it in the game.

Why wouldn't it help? Did you forget about how CS2D used to be and what made is so popular? It was not iran town, zombie mode or some other modes. It was the standard mode itself and people kept playing on it for years. But there's a lack of upgrades in standard/competetive part of 2D, that's why the base of players is decreasing. Some of you may think that the base of "mods players" is bigger than the standard ones, but it's not true. We're here all the time, playing rarely, just watching. There are no upgrades for standard mode since 2010, that's why our players number is getting smaller. They've lost time and hope, but i'm sure that a big part of them would come back if something serious would be around.

It will not bring many players, i accept that. It will bring back activity to standard mode and bring back a part of old players. Some of mods players may share interest with competetive side by simply clicking matchmaking. They would start at the lowest rank, so they wouldn't get owned. You were always active in cs2d's world, since it's your game, so you never thought "oh, there's a new option in cs2d, im gonna check it out". New players would have an actual option of standard game, since they are mistaken by the name Counter Strike 2D, it's not counter strike anymore, it's iran town/minecraft/zombiemode/gta mode. Competetive base of players is from years 2004 (yeah, they're still playing) to 2013. From last year no one new joined competetive/standard mode, because all they can see are MODES.

I agree that it may take a while at the beggining, but once this option gets popular, it would take less time. I'd click that button and wait even an hour to get connected, only to have a chance of normal cs2d game, which is totally abandoned.

That's only your oppinion. I'm involved into competetive side of cs2d and though our base of players is decreasing every year, there would be a massive boom into matchmaking option.

Np, we could totally share old ESL servers from France, Germany and Poland. Ranking system would have nothing to do with server rank, so you wouldn't need to worry that someone (for example me) will cheat the rank. Matchmaking would connect people into the server, set a password and other port (other port makes sv not visible in serverlist, so no ddos/attacks). The ranking would be made at the end of the match, it would count teamstats and individualstats to ELO points. Global ranking and ranks would be visible on unrealsoftware/ingame.

Yes, and you continue on making cs2d less cs2d every year, since you've totally forgotten about the core of this game - standard mode. There will always be more standard players in this game. The rest may not say this, but we're not happy with the direction of where's this game heading, where are updates heading to.

Didn't want to annoy/flame anybody, just my oppinion. If i said some harsh words, then please edit them into something more polite

Dc,all words said by @milriko is true, when I joined cs2d in 2009 I was a standard mode fan and there were less mod servers but since 2013 wen u started working on standard 3 project, the players are going less and less day by day.they r liking mods as nothing new in standard servers and believe me u won't get a more popular standard 3 than cs2d. People will play standard 3 but they will play it for 1 yr or 2 yr or atleat 5 years but not like 8 to 9 yrs . I still miss the old days of cs2d in 2010-11 when I made my Usgn. I know u r working very hard for standard-3 then atleat give 1 or 2 week to cs2d and see the change in no: of players

Stranded I and II are still being played, and are both around 8 years old. Stranded I was released in 2002 or 2003, can't remember.

I get your post, and in no way am I disagreeing with you about the lack of players we will soon be going to see. But I wanted to point out that the above which I quoted is wrong.

Keep cs2d simple, thats why i love it.The game doesnt need matchmaking system. If i want to play serious i can play another FPS 3D game but not cs2d.Also cs2d is not popular like other shooting games so this improvement will not affect the player ratio good way imo.

@user Egoist: I think it has nothing to do with the game simplicity. It's about CS2D not being like CSGO and others. There isn't a master server to keep track of player ranks and stuff, everything is pretty much on the hoster responsability.

Tho, I still agree that CS2D has lack of competitive updates.

I do care about the standard game mode as I've just proven with the latest update (new fog of war modes, update for silenced weapons, ...)

I stated the reasons.

user Milriko has written

I didn't forget it. But you already mentioned the key point: It used to be extremely popular but it's not very popular anymore. This might partially be caused by the lack of frequent/big updates but of course it's mainly caused by the fact that CS2D is a very old game and that there are much more and better alternatives and competitors nowadays.

About most people seeming to prefer crazy shit: This is NOT only my opinion. It's a fact and you can see it in the server list very clearly. People there don't seem to like the Standard game mode. Or at least people who are able to host servers don't seem to like it otherwise there would be much more servers with Standard mode and players on it.

@user Yashukiller: CS2D is so popular for one single reason: The name. This is very dishonorable for me as a game developer and that's why I don't count CS2D as my biggest success. Of course it's not a bad game and I put a lot of passion, time and effort into it but it's not the game I'm most proud of. You are right that it will be very hard to get as much players as I had in CS2D with any other game but that's actually not the most important thing for me. The most important thing for me is that I work on something which I love and which I can fully support. Unfortunately this is not the case for CS2D anymore because it's a clone with stolen name and gameplay and it's also old and it's using very outdated stuff (engine and programming language).

I have a great idea for a compromise:
I'll add something like a "quick start" button to CS2D and it will work this way:
• internally fetch the serverlist and ping all servers
• select all which are running Standard game mode (we may also consider to maintain a separate list of servers for this somehow)
• from those select one which has a reasonable amount of players and a reasonable ping.
• If it fails: Let the player decide if he wants to host his own game or if he wants to search for a game manually in the serverlist (or try again).
