user Yates, user Tobey and I are planning to create a Carnage Contest tournament.

It will have a standard ladder tournament system, which is illustrated on the following picture:

There are some controversial points in the rules, however. We need to hear your opinion on them to make them optimal. Feedback is appreciated.

• Should the map be generated randomly before each game, or should it stay the same throughout the tournament?
• Should the weapons of choice be more difficult each match or should they stay the same throughout the tournament?
• Should medkits/supply crates/mines/bear traps be present in the game at all and if so, at which percentage?
• Should participants be allowed to use buildings and if so, should they be allowed to block others?
• Should the spawn points be determined randomly, or should the participants be allowed to choose them themselves? If so, should 'stacking' be allowed (placing players on top of other players)?
• What should be the round ender and after what round should it be, if any?

If you have any other suggestions that we have not thought of or mentioned, feel free to express them in this thread. Thank you for your time.

Very nice idea! If you think about casting/streaming some of those games, I'd be glad to help you set it up or even stream some of them myself. We could draw some attention on Carnage Contest this way!
The settings are something you really have to think about though.

A Brazilian makes a thread about Cs2d tournaments and he gets flamed by users and banned by mods/admins.

A Mod makes a thread about CC tournaments and he gets praised by other mods.

Also, will you allow spectators, because I'd like to play in this tournament, but apperantly I suck in CC, so will I be able to spectate?

6. Round ender... not sure, but flood could be fine

@user RatedX: Because: CS2D is a game with a lot of players. CC is a game with only a few active players. Therefore it may not be abused or somethin. and because cs2d is filled with.. uh kids? And also because it was from a random user, not a trusted mod. <--- Thats my opinion. Not sure if its right.

I can suggest a vanilla settings, those are just that everyone is used to, and know them.

1. I think is should stay the same. but not sure anyway. Maybe it may change, but keep the same "style"
2. The same.
3. Default.
4. Sure, why not? Thats a strategy, use anything you can do, except bugs or cheats. Otherwise that would be unfare to prohibit some stuff, because Guy A might know it, but its prohibited, and Guy B does not know about that thing. That "equals" them in some way, but thats a tournament, not a kids fight.
4. Round 5 flood.

i guess it would be hard to implement & watch it properly working.

@user ohaz: We had this idea a long time ago, but never thought about making it. Then a few days ago Chingy asked DC on his and my behalf if we could create a mapping contest (But that is off-topic and will be heard about soon) and directly I thought back to the CC idea and started talking with Engi. - But if you want to help by maybe hosting a few games or more if you have any ideas that is fine.

@user DevGru: Winner will get free CS2D server for a few months or so (Since mostly everyone here plays CS2D and CC has no dedicated system).

@user -tony316-: Score idea is very useless. It would be a waste of time to script and would not be very cool.

Too bad forum does not have any medals, would be great having them, and a little badge "First CC Tournament winner 1st/2nd/3rd place" woud perfectly fit.

To stop spam we are allowed to link to a community website. Multiple tournaments and contests will be hosted there now and then to win prizes. I'm not sure anyone would care to have a special rank there though.

First we need to sort out how the tournaments will be - therefore this thread. So any ideas are welcome.
