how long does banip last by default when accessed through the ban/ipban options menu (and not the script menu)? i now am an admin to a server and i accidentally banned two players who weren't misbehaving. I feel bad. I banned them because the player who was misbehaving was not listed in the players list and so i thought they might be him/her.
Some players have been (hacking) recently in the sense that they somehow remain unlisted in the ban player menu and they have also somehow become invincible once or twice.

It depends on how the command was called. If you just called it with ip/name/usgn, it's likely that it's permanent ban. If you called it with a number from -1 to 1440 (other than 0) then they'll be unbanned after a day.
