Proposed: When robots achieve the same levels of intelligence (both emotional and in rationality), we as humans have an obligation to give them the same rights that we endow upon ourselves.

What, the singularity is upon us already? Wait... nevermind, I've got the wrong major robotics-event here.

Well, I guess so, but if we ever make a robot that is capable of thinking in a totally human way, we may end up with a bunch of robots armed with serious weaponry rebeling against helping their creators.

Though robots achieve the same level of intelligence, they are not granted the ability to feel. Thus, they should not be given the same rights as us.

That would be a catastrophe! Humans can barely deal with their own kind, now we want robots? And I thought racism couldn't get worse..

that would be nothing selse than a living being in my eyes, if they could also reproduce.

Then we would just have a new kind of living being. If however, they could not reproduce, then giving them th e same rights would be useless

or to Bender in Futurama

"I will kill her with my raygun when she comes!" lol
anyway, even if robots will be like humans, that will be only a simulation it their brain/CPU. BUT, do we know what's happening in our brain? maybe we are not so "human" too?

Would be cool if we made robots build other robots, and sort of end up like how it goes in Star Wars, with lots of galaxies and uhm trade federation. Just imagine that.

Well, most likely it could happen since I've heard it's possible to create holograms now. Yes, it's correct... I'll find a article about it soon or later to prove my post.

By the way here it is, stay updated. I still don't know if it's a hoax or not though, but with todays technology it at least would seem possible to recreate out of Star Wars, as a example.

I dont think they should, If God created humans are we on the same level as him? I dont think so, so if we create Artificial life as smart and emotional as us, I still dont think they are equal to humans. You just cant say metal is equal to flesh and blood.

But in Lee's theory they should act like us...
And that is a kind of racism, as there is black, white and other skin colors, there would be metal too...

Did white people create black people? No they are both humans, but Robots are not born inside a woman, there made in factory's or labs by humans. Like i said before, metal doesnt = flesh and blood, so they arent equal to us.

Man, will you guys shut up about white and black people. It's annoying.

+ Humans started in Afrika. The only reason why they are black and we are white is because of the sun.

Btw, if a robot, or more ever take over. --> MAGNET! <--
And robots are cool.

Did you not see this part?

So they can feel emotional pain? That's impossible.

And that's simply wrong. It's amazing how much our own brain acts like a computer. And it doesn't matter where something came from, in the context SG was referring to, and such religious nonsensicalness has led to many wars of the past. Individuals should be treated like individuals. The rights of one should be the rights of the living as a whole, unless one group wants to develop their own, peacefully.

Where and when did we say that metal = flesh and blood and that robots are equal to us? We only want to give robots attributes of a human, not make them ones.

Is nonsensicalness an actual word?
Anyway, if we did give machines an actual intelligence as us, we would be looking at war mechs being fired upon us.
Say you gave a missile a brain, to think and make its own decisions. It starts to think awhile about the world, then turns self-aware. So, it targets wherever humans are. Imagine that effect on all mechanical weapons.
Saw it on History Channel's "& things that can end our world". I believe it was Number 4 or 3, since with the military's mind, it's likely.
